InterviewYou’re currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program in acting. Was getting in a difficult process?Yes, I finally got in on my third audition. I just never went away... I came to the U of A and did a year of drama because you need it as a prerequisite for the BFA. After that year, I auditioned and didn’t get in. So I cried. Second year, I thought I had learned everything at that point, auditioned and got a call back, so I was super pumped. Then, I didn’t get in. So I cried. Finally, after a year of directing and four years of drama, I tried again and got in. So how many people are in your class at any given time? They accept twelve people per year, so I have eleven classmates: six girls and five other guys. Have you heard stories about how crazy it can be hanging out with only twelve people for three years straight?Oh yeah! I’ve heard stories about 60’s key party classes and crazy stuff like that. But I mean really, what do you expect when you put a bunch of artsy, emotional, nubile and fit people together with impulses they can’t deny?I mean... I’m sure a lot of “intermingling” can happen. But then there are classes that make it all about the work. Maybe there’s a diva in the class and tempers can flair, but at the end of the day, you’re stuck with these people so you have to learn how to work together. It sounds to me like there should be a reality show that chronicles the lives of a class of BFA acting students. That would be amazing. Believe me, but it would ruin the program. I mean... I’m sure we wouldn’t learn nearly as much. If there were such a show, what character would you be portrayed as?I’d be the guy that was nice to most people but was quietly disapproving of others. Also, the guy that was secretly trying to steal all of the girlfriends. Can I print that? Because it won’t be nearly as secretive if I do.
