InterviewThis was your second season with Griffins Hockey. Did you move from Grimshaw to play?I moved just for school. I wasn’t even playing hockey last year because I had hurt my knee, so when I got to MacEwan i didn’t think I would be able to make the team. They ended up having a few guys with some academic troubles so they needed players halfway through the year. How good does someone’s academic performance have to be to stay on a team? Not very good. Only a 1.7. A lot of the guys who fail out don’t really have any interest in school, they just want to play hockey. To balance that, there’s some pretty bright guys on the team. How do you plan on spending your summers? More hockey? Not really, I just head back to Grimshaw and work out. I help my dad out too. He’s a bee keeper. Really?! Awesome. You’re an Apiarist. Are you able to do it yourself?I pretty much know how to run a bee farm and there’s a good chance that when I’m done school I’ll go back home and take over. You must have been stung so many times over the years. When you’re working you get stung about once a day for sure. Certain times of the year you’ll get stung four or five times. Are you immune to bee stings now?Oh no, it still hurts. Are there any parallels between bee keeping and hockey? My dad always told me that hockey and bee keeping aren’t all that different - You go out there and you’re going to get stung a few times, but if you work hard and catch a few breaks, you’ll have success. |
