Interview

Can you educate me as to what exactly a VP External does?

Well... Obviously, I represent the students first, but I also deal with any external organizations and services. I also handle anything media related. For example, the whole City Centre Airport issue or dealing with stuff like the U-Pass.

Other than your brand new iPhone, what are some of the perks of being in student council?

It’s great experience. There is lots of professional development and a ton of networking opportunities across Alberta and the whole country. Plus, I’ve learned so many new things! Like, I didn’t know anything about how to talk to the media, and what to say or what to keep my mouth shut about... Now I know!

I’ll assume I can’t ask what you’re not allowed to talk about... So tell me what you get up to outside of work.

I like to quilt. It all started because my sister was pregnant and she kept trying to get me to sew with her, but I just thought it would be so boring and lame, but I thought it would be neat to learn how so that I could make her new baby a blanket. Once I got going, I ended up loving it!

Do you Knit at all? It seems like knitting and quilting are back to being a cool thing to do

No, I don’t know how to knit. But my brothers fiance knits and she keeps saying she’s going to teach me. But I do a lot of other sewing.

The only cliche thing left for you to do is scrap-booking.

I do scrap-booking too! I’ve been scrap-booking for so long, I used to even work at a scrap-booking store.

Please consider taking up knitting to complete the hat-trick. Just consider it, I think it would be awesome.
